Check back on my May 10th post about the robin’s nest. This is how we are doing today. The parents have become quite territorial about the front yard, I have but to leave the front door and start walking around dead-heading the iris and I get told off in spades. You’d think by now they would “get” that I am not going to hurt their babies. They are birds of little faith and much cynicism.

The chicks’ eyes are open now, see? Notice how big their feathers have gotten in the two days since I last posted a photo. Birds have to grow fast, I guess.
that nest construction never ceases to amaze me.
That big orange beak. Like a flower. Do you a major lens or are getting that close?
Charlotte, what I have is a Fuji Finepix J150w with 10x optical zoom and 10 megapixels, plus a macro function. I am actually quite close to the nest when I take the picture, I walk out my front door, walk behind the shrub that this nest is in and quickly hold my camera right over the nest, shoot and then leave. I am probably there for 5 seconds, plus 2 seconds to get in position and 2 seconds to leave. The adult robins squawk and complain, even fly by my head during that amount of time. Quite exciting. The little birds know when their parents are yelling like that to sit very still and not draw attention to themselves.
Awwwww…
what an amazing shot
