So I was surfing around my blog friends sites, having no energy to do anything more physical, when I came across this meme on Charlotte’s Web. It tickled my fancy, and so I decided to adopt it.
1. Who was your first prom date? I never went to a prom in my life.
2. Do you still talk to your first love? No. I don’t even know where he is, if I did I wouldn’t talk to him. You can read about it here.
3. What was your first alcoholic drink? Tastes of the brandy my mother used to soak the fruit cakes with.
4. What was your first job? Seamstress and repair at a dry cleaner was the first “real” job. I did lots of baby sitting before that.
5. What was your first car? Brand new 1976 Saab 99 GL.
6. Who was the first person to text you today? Nobody texts me. No one knows my cell phone number. Except my son, and he knows better than to text us.
7. Who is the first person you thought of this morning? The wonderful man lying next to me.
8. Who was your first grade teacher? Mrs. Anderson. The only thing I remember about her was being sent home to change my clothes because I walked to school in the rain and was soaked to the skin. The rest of first grade is pretty much a blur. I know I must have been there, but I certainly don’t remember much about it.
9. Where did you go on your first flight in a plane? Raleigh, North Carolina. I remember the trip vividly because when I opened the little container of salad dressing it squirted me in the eye and I spilled my lunch all over.
10. Who was your first best friend and do you still talk? Sophia. No. We lost touch when I went to college in Alaska.
11. Where was your first sleepover? At Sophia’s house.
12. Who was the first person you talked to today? The wonderful man sleeping next to me.
13. Whose wedding were you in for the first time? My own.
14. What was the first thing you did this morning? Got up and dragged myself to the sofa where my darling husband presented me with freshly brewed coffee.
15. What was the first concert you went to? Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony performed by the Boulder Philharmonic. I was 8.
16. First tattoo? The dragon around my ankle, which I got when I was 41.
17. First piercing? Ears only. Don’t understand this need for holes and spikes and studs in the body at all.
18. First foreign country you went to? Canada. It was part of an epic road trip our parents took us on the summer I was 6. We saw the St. Lawrence Seaway and got lost in Montreal.
19. First movie you remember seeing? Fantasia. It made me long to play classical music.
20. What state did you first live in? California, USA where I was born.
21. Who was your first room-mate? My first room mate was a young Inuit woman named Ina who became so homesick she left University to go home within 2 weeks of the term beginning.
22. When was your first detention? I never had a detention. I was a sickeningly good and obedient girl.
23. If you had one wish what would it be? I truly wish to win millions in the lottery so that I would have enough money to buy the 10 acres behind this place and turn it into an urban bird sanctuary/arboretum.
24. What is one thing you would learn, given the chance? Photoshop
25. Who will be the next person to post this? No idea, but have fun doing it.
#5 makes me envious. all my cars have been second hand
I’m about even between new and second hand. After the Saab I acquired a lovely Dodge Colt that was used, very nice little car until it developed some sort of gasket leak that allowed the coolant to fill the cylinders (please do not ask how this occurred, I have not got the slightest clue) and killed it dead, requiring repairs costing more than the car was worth. Then the next car I acquired was a 7 year old Honda Accord that was worth its weight in gold and never gave me any trouble except for needing a new clutch due to the fact its previous owner did not know how to drive. Other than that, it served me well for another 5 years until I wrecked it by turning it upside down in a ditch. After that, we have stuck to new cars: first a 94 Saturn that is still running well and is owned by our son: still gets 41 mpg, needs a new front seat which is not available because the car is obsolete. He says it has gotten fickle and doesn’t like long trips any more. Then we got a 99 Oldsmobile Intrigue that we traded in on the Prius we have now.
I shall not bother you with the list of trucks we have owned, stating only that they have all been used.
All in all, I like the trouble freeness of a new car and knowing that no one has abused it (except me), knowing its maintenance history, etc.
was the Honda responsible for your broken arm?
No. When I rolled that car I had no injuries whatsoever except for a slight bruise on my temple where my head hit the door frame as I was shaken around during the festivities.
