Yesterday was one more frantic day in a line of frantic days that we experienced as we get accustomed to Jim’s new job. I was thinking that maybe I’d never have time for the computer again.
Silly me. I pretty much kept today free because it is my birthday, and the nice blank space in my appointment book was quite in evidence even yesterday. It’s a good thing too, I need a lot of free time because last night my mother had a heart attack and is in the hospital. So it’s a good thing that I have the day free so I can go visit her.
Odd sort of birthday, too. I have heard from every person in my family today, because we are busy discussing the situation and supporting each other. But so far, no greetings of the day. And I don’t feel particularly celebratory.
It never rains but it pours, to use a very over-used phrase. I mean, my dad was just in the hospital last Friday, Saturday and Sunday to have a brand new pacemaker installed, which seems to be making him feel much more peppy. The parents stopped by yesterday afternoon and his color was much better and he was claiming great health and within literally less than an hour my mother was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.
I talked to her this morning and she sounds great. Her main concern is that she has irises that need to be planted and she is chafing at the bit to be released so she can go do that.
The stroll garden is rolling on into its summer phase, the echinacea are starting to bloom. This is how the rain garden looks today.
Well, I have to get ready to go up to Osage Beach where Mom is, and there is a big thunderstorm headed this way so I’ll post this now. When we have storms in the area our internet connection gets really intermittent. Despite what the phone company says, I think that when there is a lot of rain on the ground it affects their switching equipment.
Anyway, you all have a fine day, and stay healthy, hear?

Happy Birthday! It always seems to come at one time. Hope you mom is better. Rain garden looks beautiful. Have a good day.
Happy Birthday!
I understand about parents. One time I had one on one floor and the other on another…
Hugs
Lexi
Hope all went ok and your mum is better!
And belated birthday wishes
Ellie! so sorry to hear about your mom. I had to take my mom to the emergency room this week also, she had an infection that went septic. They gave her antibiotics and sent her home (and I had to go back to work). She is much better now. I hope your gets the care she needs and is back to planting irises in no time! Maybe you and Jim can do something special later for your birthday;-)
I have the same problem with rain and the Net around here, and get the same cluck-cluck when I mention it to the provider.
Best birthday wishes! And glad to hear your mother is on the mend.
Mother was released from the hospital yesterday at about 3 p.m. Her cardiac catheterization and echocardiogram both showed her heart arteries to be completely clear. Apparently she was laid out by an episode of extremely high blood pressure — 210/120. When they sent her home it was “stabilized” at approximately 150 over 80, and I guess they felt that was “good enough” to get her out of the hospital.
She was forbidden to plant irises though, because of the cardiac cath there is a weak point in her femoral artery for ten days. I guess I’ll go out there tomorrow and see what I can do about helping her with that.
Sorry to hear about your mom, but I am glad shes OK. Tell her NO BENDING as it severely stresses that area. An arterial blowout is nothing to fool with, especially with high blood pressure. I blew out my femoral after my last cath. At the hospital, luckily. By the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Sorry I wasnt there to spend it with you
Happy belated birthday!
Praxis varies seemingly. When I had a cardiac catheterization last month there where no restrictions about bending afterwards. I had to stay in bed laying flat on my back for a few hours, but that was all.
This particular cardiologist didn’t seem particularly concerned about bending, but he definitely was against lifting and digging.
I would feel a lot better about things if they had any clue as to why her blood pressure went so high and stayed so high.
In my book, the real danger here is that it will skyrocket again, and I would think that that would or could be just as dangerous for an arterial hole caused by cardiac cath, but I don’t really know.
I do know she is getting old, 82 is starting to get right up there. And my father is even older.
I’m glad your mum’s ok. I hope you had some fun and celebration on some other day to make up for your birthday.
