COPE was having a fundraiser today: a chili cookoff. COPE is our local battered women’s shelter, a cause I consider more than just worthy. So J and I took our lives in our hands and went and tasted more or less home made chili from several sources. We voted for the batches we liked.
Some of it was good. Some of it was pretty ordinary. None of it was what I think of as chili, and even the “hot” or “spicy” was awfully tame.
But I am here to testify that if you want to have a little heartburn, go to a chili cook off. There is a headache here too.
We have the sauna fired up, and maybe that will take care of what ails me. Next time I think I’ll just send money.
