The weather is going to drive me nuts.  Two mornings ago we had violent thuderstorms and tornados.  Today we have a cold day of snow flurries:

Yes, all that white stuff is snow.  Big fluffy flakes that are melting as soon as they hit the ground.  Fifteen minutes later the sun is out.  It isn’t any warmer, but it is bright.  The crocuses are not fooled, they have not come out from their closed bud position.

I have daffodils that foolishly put their buds up.  They are frozen.  When they thaw, their heads will fall over because their stems will no longer function.  Fortunately, this is only a small number of the total population of narcissi; the varieties that bloom later in the spring have not even pushed up leaves yet.   That is good.  I like to be able to see some flowers in the spring.

Tonight we go to the sauna at C and N’s place north of here.  We are taking home made sticky buns.  Jim is studying a book called “The Bread Baker’s Apprentice” by Peter Reinhart.   He keeps having failures with his attempts to make Ciabatta.  The holes aren’t big enough.   He has no failures at the sticky buns, however.   I have the waistline to prove it, too.
