Lovely pictures.
great photos–and you are correct, great minds think alike! I love the last photo. Beautiful.
Thank you. I love Monarchs. Oh heck. I love all butterflies.
I immediately thought of the film “Butterflies are Free”….

I wasn’t the only one. Can’t always be creative, I suppose.
Besides, I already had one post up today. I liked yours a lot! People should go see those pics.
Beautiful! We had a different take on the theme! It’s all about noms for us.
Sniffie and the Florida Furkids
Well, but of course. I understand. You are cats, noms are important.
This is a beautiful collection. I love the reflections on the pond and the tiny butterfly on the dog’s head. Wonderful take on the theme!
The butterfly on the dog is a really nice photo – love the way you cropped it!
Thanks. I really liked the expression in her eye.
Absolutely superb butterfly shots. I’m so envious — this from someone who has problems getting butterflies to pose nicely for her… ;b
You would not believe the number of butterfly pictures I have that are utter garbage. They seem so aimless but they can cover ground like nobody’s business. You have to be patient and persistent and shoot shoot shoot. Thank God I am not having to pay for film. . .
those butterflies are all beautifully captured and great thoughts to match. the last shot is magical. 🙂
Thanks. Monarchs are my favorites.
The colours fairly leap out – wonderful! Hard to pick a favourite, maybe #1 or #4
I’ve always been fond of #4, it is such a poignant image. Another one I stumbled across one fall afternoon.
Ah yes, but….
Butterflies may be free, but there is a price to pay:
How would YOU like to have to migrate thousands of miles twice a year, under your own steam ;-
BTW, how do you DO that? The soft green background around the Zinnia I mean? Lovely. The DOF bit I find incomprehensible.
Boy, I wish I knew how I did that soft green background, because if I KNEW how I did it I would do it more often. When it happens, it is so magical but usuallly it is a complete accident. That being said, it seems to occur when I am really close to what I am photographing and focused on it exclusively.
I’m sure that there is something that a professional (like Saxon Holt) could communicate about DOF, but since all my cameras are of the point and shoot variety at the moment, I don’t have a lot of control of aperture and speed. And I think those are the things that when manipulated provide that soft background.
Ooh what beautiful butterflies. I love the last one!
It was being very cooperative for me that day.
Wonderful, wonderful take on the theme and your photos are so outstanding! The butterfly on the pup’s head is incredible! And funny! (I think only a Golden would be patient enough to hold still while you photograph it!!!!)
Happy Weekend!
She had nowhere to go, she was sitting in a canoe at the time. . .
These are SO beautiful! I love the one on the pond (with the reflections).
