Just a short post. Our fabulous kids, namely our niece Alex and son Jesse went together and purchased an iPad for Jim.
I am sitting in the comfort of our living room typing away at the virtual keyboard with WordPress on the screen.
As I began this little exercise, my poor husband said, “I’ve lost it…”
All he did was show me how to put a direct link on the screen, and I asked whether I could put my bog on there ….. And the rest is history.
I guess I’d better give it back now. It really is his new toy….
It really is a very cool thing though.

What’s typing like on the virtual keyboard? I’m getting tempted and not for the first time.
DP It takes a little getting used to because I am used to feeling the keys move. But I am using it right now, and the more I do it, the better I get at it. the only thing is, t he touch pad is so sensitive that you can’t rest your fingers on the face of the machine while you think or you get a series of snlcraandom letters (like happened right there.)
Also, the more I use this, the better I like the actual machine. there are masses of totally cool apps that are free too. additionally there are literally hundreds of free books you can download and read; it acts like a Kindle too.

for travel, i no longer take a laptop. this is it. it is glorious. still having some issues using the iPad format for WordPress, though. uploading pics, formatting, links, etc. still give me headaches. will try the app…

I’ve used one once, and yes, very nice toy! All of my housemates have one, but I don’t think it’s a priority for me, though it would be super cool.
Well, it certainly wasn’t a priority here, the children bought it for us. It has only been in the house since Sunday evening and we have already found it to be an almost indispensable thing. Strange how seductive something like this can be.
And in the winter it will be nice to have this little item. The computer lives in a very cold corner of the house. With the wireless router we will be able to sit by the fire and read the news, etc, in the warmth. Also, the person who is reading the news or blogging is no longer isolated from the rest of the house.
But it was not cheap, that’s for sure! Nice children! good children! We love them and thank them again and again”..
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to be more mobile! In my new living situation, my computer is up in my bedroom and I’m used to having all my stuff in the living room where I can watch TV and work. This feels very isolated (probably why I’m not too inspired to write much lately) and I’d love to have a laptop or something to take downstairs & use. Maybe one day!
