I have spent quite a bit of time in various sandy locations: beaches and deserts. Sand is such an amazing commodity. Depending on the fineness of the grit, and whether it is damp, it can be an amazing record of what happened during the night. Here is evidence that a bobcat walked up and down a beach.
There was a lizard here.
And this is the den of a kangaroo rat, who has been in and out a few times.
I also am fascinated by the patterns that grass draws on sand when the wind blows.
