Today’s assignment on Photohunt is “Spirals.” I wish I had a fantastic electron microscope image of the spiraling double helix of our DNA to regale you with. I shall have to content myself with more macroscopic examples of the form.
Of course, this one was hands down easy for me. My home and garden are littered with fossilized spirals:
There are unfossilized versions galore in my shell collection. This is just a small sampling of the total available.
Wouldn’t those make great jigsaw puzzles?
So would this one, of an unfurling fern frond.
Okay, enough spirals here at The Havens. Run over to TN Chick’s place to find links to other participants in today’s Photohunt.
What goes around comes around, hope you come around again.
I love your collection of shells
Wonderful shots, Ellie. All of them.
Great shots! Love the photohunt idea.
A really special collection. I’m in awe!
Thank you for visiting and commenting on my PH-post for “Spiral”.
I am really impressed with your collection of images from fossils to seashells to living plants (fern ready to unfold). Excellent choice of images for the theme, beautifully captured photographs – every one of them.
As to your question wjy do people argue so much over things? It is in their nature. I have been too town meetings and heard how they think. I am not surprised at all that this sculpture was not well received at first. Nothing is. People are just like that. But I still like living in Norrkoping and will defend my fellow Norrkoping-residents. It’s a middle-sized city that stillhave something of a small town atmosphere about it – for better or worse!
Why haven’t I visited your site earlier? What a miss! Glad I’ve found you now.
Best wishes
Anna
I’m in awe also! I love the progression from rocks to shells to a spectacularly green fern…..gorgeous collection of spirals!
wow cool. you’ve got a lot of spiral stuff.
happy weekend
Wow ! you found a lot of spirals ! I like the old fossiles !
That’s a lot! love the ferns but hands down to the snails and shells, but the fossils are awesome! Happy Weekend!
Amazing photos!! Shells are beautiful, but I ate up the greenness of the fern frond today. It’s so gray and overcast– come, spring!
My Spiral post is here. I hope you can visit. 🙂
oh! loads of beautiful spirals indeed! love the last one, 🙂
Wow, all of the pictures are awesome! That fern is just gorgeous!
I agree w your previous comment these shots are awe inspiring. what I love the most is that they are all found in nature. These spirals are the ones the metal, glass and woodworking are imitating—– when you captured the originals –I love the fossils and fragile shells and ever so delicate green fern…..once again the most beautiful artistry is in nature!
You’ve got great fossil and shell collections — but have to say that your unfurling fern frond photo really takes the cake. 🙂
Those are all amazing shots!!!
Sniffie and the Florida Furkids
fabulous shots! the last one’s my absolute fave..
Cool. Shells old and new.
I love the one of the fern.
Beautiful collection — photos and objects alike!
These are all beautiful photographs and great ideas for the theme. I can’t believe I didn’t think of all my garden shells and fern’s unfurling that I’ve shot. Fun seeing what everyone came up with and feeling like I’m a little dumb for not thinking of some of these.
Awesome spirals! We esp. love the fern frond. Spring is on it’s way!
Cool collection of spirals!
How amazing. I love the fossils.
Wow a superb selection of spirals. I really had to stretch the thme this week!
Just beautiful… but the last one is awesome, thanks for sharing.
So many beautiful spirals! And so many fossil ones!
Thanks for your comment on my tattoos.
Wow, what a great collection. I love fossils and you’ve got some amazing ones! Thanks for visiting mine and have a great weekend.
I see this week’s theme was an easy one for you – you are surrounded by lots and lots of pretty spirals!
Nature gives us the most beautiful spirals, love your photos, my favorite is the fern!! Great job
gorgeous! I thought there could be nothing more beautiful than the spiral of a shell, and then there’s the fern!
This is one unique entry as I bloghopped. I bought some seashells like that from Puka Beach in Boracay (Philippines).
Wow! what a lot of wonderful spirals. You have such a beautiful and unique collection.
Beautiful shots! I would have loved to have used my shells but I don’t have them with me.
I’m sorry to be so late returning your visit from yesterday!
Hello and welcome to everybody who stopped by. Thanks for all your comments. The shells are a collection I began when I was in high school in San Diego, and they have been following me around ever since. The vast majority were picked up by me on the beaches of the world, but some were purchased and some were given to me.
I like that fern picture too. Spirals within spirals within spirals.
Yes, the fern picture is great.
Wow! the things in your garden are beautiful 🙂
What a lovely collection of spirals, the fern at the end was a nice surprise 🙂
Very nice spirals! I didn’t think of those! I have a lot at home! hahaha… Thanks for dropping by.
